Ball State University: Center for Computational
Nanoscience
www.bsu.edu/ccn |
|
Computational nanoscience promises to be a dominant force in
our society in the coming decades. The emergence of genuinely
new phenomena at the nanoscale creates a great need for
theory, modeling and large-scale computer simulation in order
to understand the new nanoscale phenomena and regime. |

Veneto
Nanotech was established with the objective to build
international excellence in research, to foster the
application of nanotechnology, and to support the development
of start-ups in the focus sector. It proposes itself as a link
at an institutional level and as a referee for companies and
research institutions, in order to create innovative hi-tech
products. |

NASA
Ames nanotechnology effort has steadily grown to establish a
Center for Nanotechnology. The research work focuses on
experimental research and development in nano and bio
technologies as well as on a strong complementary modeling and
simulation effort that includes computational nanotechnology,
computational nanoelectronics, computational optoelectronics,
and computational modeling of processes encountered in
nanofabrication. |

Mission of the Institute: Interdisciplinary research on
complex functional materials and nanometer-scale structures,
exploration of physical, chemical and biological principles,
their exploitation in integrated micro- and nanosystems, and
in the development of characterization techniques; and
Dissemination of the results in international programs,
education and industrial R&D, with special attention to the
needs of SME-s. |

The
Alivisatos Group is a research group at UC Berkeley and
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Their work is in the
field of nanoscience and nanotechnology, to understand these
properties and exploit them for technological applications.
Currently, we are members of the Defense University Research
Initiative on Nanotechnology, DURINT, funded by DARPA/AFOSR.

UTS: Insitute for Nanoscale Technology, Sydney
www.nano.uts.edu.au |
|
The
vision of UTS is to establish themselves as a leading
international player in selected key areas of nanotechnology.
They have combined certain pre-existing technological
strengths at UTS with new, carefully-chosen focus topics, in
order to synthesise optically-functional coatings and devices;
characterisation of nanoscale structures; and nano-biotechnology
of proteins and lipids. |
