Seven major nanotechnology research centres to receive NanoQuébec funding totalling nearly $7 million over three years

Montreal -- The Board of Directors of NanoQuébec met this morning to consider the report of the international assessment committee. The funding program has two primary objectives. The first is to ensure the stability and accessibility of the research platforms required for competitive research and the development of new applications; the second is to maximize the use of these facilities in order to propel Quebec into a national and international leadership position in nanotechnology.

The members of the international evaluation committee were unanimous in praising the high level of expertise and great value of Quebec's nanotechnology researchers and infrastructure. On behalf of everyone associated with the Operating funding competition for major central research facilities, Mr. Sylvain Cofsky, CEO of NanoQuébec, extends his thanks to all participants and congratulations to the teams of the facilities selected for funding.
